I sat there humming old folk tunes I remember
Sitting next to dads banjo on the couch

Swallowed up in the river weed
Vines pulled at my feet…
Lights of the distant city slowly came on.
Shining their light so pretty,
on the skin, the limb to the ocean.
I sat there humming a brand new song -

for the strangers ears alone
